In October 2026, Navoiyazot, one of Uzbekistan’s leading producers of fertilizers and industrial chemicals, has signed a contract with Taleng for the procurement and installation of N₂O monitoring equipment. The procurement is fully financed by the Nitric Acid Climate Action Group (NACAG) and marks an important step towards climate-friendly nitric acid production in Uzbekistan. With the installation of the CEMS (continuous N₂O emissions monitoring system) a baseline for nitrous oxide (N₂O) emissions can be set which will serve exactly as the baseline to verify effective emission reductions once the abatement system is running.
The supplier was selected through an international public tender, which ensured that the procurement met high international standards. Once the equipment is operational, it will allow the plant to effectively monitor its N₂O emissions. N₂O is a potent greenhouse gas that is released as a by-product of nitric acid production.
The contract builds on the Grant Agreement between NACAG and Navoiyazot. The Grant Agreement was made possible by the Government of Uzbekistan’s formal commitment to NACAG’s SoU (Statement of Undertaking), through which it affirmed its dedication to adopting the policy measures needed to reduce N₂O emissions from nitric acid production in the long term. This commitment enabled Navoiyazot to secure funding for procuring and installing N₂O abatement and monitoring technology.
