NACAG joins roundtable on climate finance at World Environment Day

NACAG was invited to present the initiative at the roundtable on climate finance organized by Pakistan’s Ministry of Climate Change at this year’s World Environment Day (WED).

On 5 June 2021, a NACAG representative pitched the initiative and explained its ability to support countries to meet their Nationally Determined Contribution targets and raise ambition for climate action. It was highlighted how NACAG assists its partners to overcome initial structural and investments barriers and provides financial support to procure abatement technologies.

The WED serves as United Nations‘ principal vehicle and a global platform to raise awareness, encourage action on climate change, and protect the environment. In 1972, the United Nations General Assembly initiated World Environment Day on the first day of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. Since the introduction of the rotating principle in 1987, different countries host WED every two years. This year, Pakistan acts as a global host of the WED dedicated to ecosystem restoration.
