NACAG to Participate in Sustainable Finance Festival 2023

The NACAG initiative is set to take part in the upcoming Sustainable Finance Festival 2023, scheduled to be held in Mexico City. The festival aims to foster dialogue on the progress and challenges of climate, environmental, and social financing in Mexico. Organized by the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit in Mexico, in collaboration with the Mexican development bank, GIZ, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, and the German International Climate Initiative, the event serves as a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration.

As part of the festival, NACAG will host a session on June 27, dedicated to sharing valuable insights and best practices derived from the implementation of the initiative. The session aims to encourage more companies in the chemical industry sector to adopt non-CO2 greenhouse gas mitigation measures. The objective is to drive sustainability efforts within the industry and contribute to Mexico’s overall climate goals. More information on the event below:

In February 2020, the Ministry of Environment (SEMARNAT) of Mexico made a significant commitment to mitigate N2O emissions stemming from nitric acid production. This commitment entailed the implementation of appropriate political instruments aimed at minimizing these emissions. As a result, two nitric acid producers, Soluciones Quimicas and Química PIMA, became eligible for financial support through the NACAG initiative. This commitment of the Mexican Government and the nitric acid producers represents a crucial milestone in the global pursuit of climate-friendly industrial transformation.
